:indicated for the treatment of following infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to ceftriaxone:
Abdominal infection (Peritonitis)
Lower respiratory tract infection
ENT infection
Kidneys and urinary tract infection
Infection of genital organs
Bone and Joint infection
Skin and soft tissue infection
Septicemia
Meningitis
Neutropenic fever
Perioperative prophylaxis in patient with increased risk of infection
:In adults and adolescents aged (over 12 years) of ≥ 50kg body weight is 1 – 2 g of Ceftriaxone administered once a day (every 24 hours). In serious infections or infections caused by moderately sensitive microorganisms, the dose can be raised up to 4 g administered once a day intravenously.
:Children (15 days -12 years) aged of < 50 kg , 20 – 80 mg/kg bw intravenously once daily (24 hour intervals). In severe infections, the daily dose of 80 mg/kg bw must not be exceeded, except in meningitis.
:Newborn infants (age 0 – 14 days) , 20 -5- mg/kg bw intravenously once daily (24 hour intervals). Even in severe infections, the daily dose of 50 mg/kg bw must not be exceeded.
: Elderly , the dosage recommendations for elderly patient is the same as for adults
